Kaysville Jr High 3.9.10

Way to go Chargers. There were lots of great matches today. Kaysville came in big and strong and thinking they were going to win. But with many full length contests, CJH came through again. Check out the videos of this match:

Millcreek Jr. High 3.4.10

We had another great match today. There was some confusion in the 98 and 104 lb. weight class. Tyler Hadley wrestled the 104 lb. opponent rather than his 98 lb. opponent. Colton Hadley also had a bye at 162 lbs. The videos can be found below. I am trying a different file server for this batch of videos. Leave a comment if you think the video viewing and download are faster. The videos can be viewed in low resolution mode fairly quickly. If you want more quality, download the file and watch it in a smaller window.

Central Davis Jr. High 3.2.10

We had another great match today, for most of the wrestlers. Several of the Varsity Team didn't wrestle because CDJH didn't have anyone to wrestle them. With the three CDJH forfeits, CJH won the match 48 to 24. Good job guys. The videos can be seen here:

110 - no match
140 - no match
162 - no match

CJH Wrestling 2010 season openers

Well, we are trying to get things going again this year with the Charger Wrestling Blog. We are already have two matches down and 8 or so to go.

The Legacy Jr. High match (2.24.10) was a nail biter. They had some awesome wrestlers, but CJH prevailed. If you don't watch any other match, at least check out Parker Strong's HW match to see the "Parker Chant". The video links are found here:

The Perfect Storm

The Chargers were the perfect storm this year. What a great ending to a perfect season. I don't think that another team has ever finished so far ahead of the other teams at the district tournament. It is a testament to the boys and the coaches. My hat goes off to all of them! Although it will be nice to breathe again, it is bitter sweet to see it end. I hope that you have all enjoyed the season as I have. Several of you have thanked me for posting the videos on the internet. Knowing that you have made use of them is thanks enough. It really has been a lot of fun to watch and then review all of the matches. For those who are interested, I do have all of the finals from District recorded and will make them available in a short time. I also want to thank my father-in-law-ex-wrestling-coach for all of the photos that he took at South End and District (over 700). I will make them available to everyone, I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get them to you since you can imagine how much disk space and band width it would take. Once I figure out what I'm going to do, I'll post it here for you. In return, I have one request. We left South End early to take Austin to a Dr.'s appointment and missed the medal's ceremony. Our daughter Anndi told us that Coach Smoot had her get up on the stand to receive the medal. If anyone has a photo of that, we'd really like to get a copy. Please let me know if and how we can get it. Thanks again to all of you. It's been great to get to know both the boys and parents a little better. And thanks to my wife for putting up with me stuck to my computer monitor long into the nights.

Undefeated!!

Now that was a dual!! Never have I seen a team lose a point because one of their wrestlers yelled at a ref. Never have I seen multiple parents escorted out of the stands by the Sheriff because of poor sportsmanship. I was glad the Sheriff was there but I was saddened that the Sheriff needed to be there. It put a damper on the energy of the dual. However, despite the downer that the poor sportsmanship was, I was totally impressed with our coaching staff and our wrestlers. You guys were so pumped, your energy was contagious. I loved every minute of the dual and felt like I had been working out for an hour. I was sweating and my heart was racing, all of the elements of a great meet. Congratulations on a perfect season. It was a great way to end and get us ready for next week of South End and District. We have got to stay strong and not get over confident. I think that both our Varsity and JV have a very good chance of making it to district and putting us ahead of the competition. Keep it up guys. We're behind you 100%. Make sure you get your rest, we need to be at the top of our games on Tuesday.

Congratulations to those who won by fall. I was not noting the scores and my assistant (who will remain unnamed because he's a terrible barber - just ask Nate H.) I think was a bit distracted so I have to try and decipher what he gave me. But as far as I can tell the list includes: Devin P., Austin J., Tanner H. & Doug S. If I missed someone, please let me know. It is completely unintentional. I look forward to next week and the energy of the tournaments.

Now in an attempt to be a little more secure with videos of our boys, the files from now on will be password protected. The password to all of these files is the first name of the person who has stepped in to assist Coach Smoot with the Varsity matches and my last name. It is a single word all lower case. This may cause some people a little pain and I'm sorry for that. It is just a result of the world we live in. If you have problems with the password, feel free to contact me directly.

Door Closed on Bountiful

Wow! Final score 77-0. Excellent job guys! I totally didn't expect a shutout today. Everyone looked so good today. If we bring that same skill and energy to District, there isn't anyone that will be able to touch us. OK, that may be premature since we still have West Point on Thursday and they are the only other undefeated team in the district. I look forward to Thursday. It should be a great match and a preview of district.

A special congratulations to Ty H. who joined the varsity line up today because Ben B. was sick. Ty was wrestling with a separated shoulder but you'd never have guessed it based on his performance. He took his guy down to the mat and finished him off in the first period. Nice job Ty. Ben, we hope you get better soon. That goes for all of the Chargers who are not feeling well. Get some chicken soup and some extra rest (or whatever your mother says is best). We need everyone ready for south end and district.
